Lowes Foods and Diet Pepsi worked together this holiday season to bring some much needed supplies to the food banks of North Carolina. Diet Pepsi donated one can of soup for every 6-pack of Diet Pepsi products purchased throughout the month of November. This donation comes at a time when it is needed most with the current state of the economy and while unemployment rates in the state of North Carolina are one of the highest in the United States.
Diet Pepsi will donate a total of 38,678 cans of Lowes Foods brand soup to food banks in several markets around the state over the following weeks. Lowes Foods will present the donations to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Winston Salem, Second Harvest Metrolina in Charlotte, and the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina in Raleigh. The cans of soup will be evenly distributed to these locations on Tuesday December 15, 2009.
All 112 Lowes Foods stores participated in this event, and they will continue to raise donations through their Friends Feeding Friends food drive through the end of December. Donation bins for this food drive can be found in all Lowes Foods stores, and prepackaged bags of non-perishable food make it convenient for anyone to donate. With Diet Pepsi, Lowes Foods and other companies combining their efforts, many people will be fed during this holiday season.
